Next generation Kinect is as small as a stick of gum

The next generation Kinect, code-named Capri, is 1/10th the size of the current Kinect and is as small as a stick of gum.

It has a range of 0.8m to 3.5m letting you control your smartphone or tablet with a wave of the hand or scan a room in 3D (and possibly even record movies in 3D).  PrimeSense is planning on releasing it at the end of the year and it should be in phones and tablets next year.

Kinect For Windows SDK now available for commercial use

Microsoft’s Kinect for Windows new “Commercial ready” SDK installer includes drivers and api. With the new license agreement, it is now legal to include in your apps for commercial use.

Kinect SDK released, works only on Windows 7, illegal to actually use

UPDATE: the commercial license of the Kinect For Windows SDK has been released

You can finally write cool apps using your Kinect for your Windows 7 PC, but if you use them at work (even for in-house development), Microsoft will come at you with everything they have.
